Week 19 of the fantasy baseball season could offer a bit more chaos than usual when it comes to expected matchups. That is because Major League Baseball’s trade deadline is this Thursday. Several deals have already taken place, but we will surely see plenty of other players on the move in the coming days. An offensive player’s outlook for the coming week can change quite a bit if he is traded. Make sure you keep an eye on the latest news regarding the players on your roster. Here is the Week 19 Hitting Planner with all matchup information as of Saturday evening.

Week 19 Schedule Notes
Monday is a full slate, with all 30 MLB teams in action. It is also the only day of the week on which there are no day games. There are just three games on Thursday, which will serve as a travel day for most teams. There are a couple of minor quirks to consider as well. Baltimore and Toronto will play a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday. Saturday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds will be played at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. For this article, I will treat it as a neutral game from a hitting factor perspective. However, it is difficult to say for sure how the ballpark will perform. Both the Braves and Reds will be off Sunday as a result of the extra travel involved.
Because of Tuesday’s doubleheader, the Orioles and Blue Jays will play seven games in Week 19. Only four other teams will be playing seven games this week. All reside in the American League, including New York, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and Texas. Those six teams all play split weeks except for Texas. The Rangers will be on the road facing the Angels and Mariners. The Angels are one of five teams with six home games (including the Cincinnati Reds) this week. Four other teams besides Texas will be exclusively on the road this week. All four of those teams are National League teams. They include Atlanta, Arizona, Los Angeles, and Pittsburgh. Do not cry for the Pirates, though. They close the week with three games in Coors Field against the Rockies.
Week 19 Starting Pitching Matchup Notes
The Pittsburgh Pirates have one of the worst offenses in baseball this season. They have the fewest runs scored and the lowest weighted on-base average (wOBA) in MLB. Their offense should get a boost when they face the Colorado Rockies this weekend. Â However, the trade deadline looms, and the Pirates are expected to be active sellers. Since the series versus Colorado begins after the trade deadline, any deals would have already occurred by the time Pittsburgh touches down in Denver. It seems like the Pirates are willing to listen to offers on all of their hitters, with the possible exception of Oneil Cruz. That means Bryan Reynolds, Ke’Bryan Hayes, and Tommy Pham could be among those who are traded this week.
The St. Louis Cardinals look to have the most favorable matchups among teams not facing the Rockies in my Week 19 hitting planner. St. Louis faces Miami and San Diego this week. As things currently stand, the Cardinals would face six right-handed starters, including Sandy Alcantara, Cal Quantrill, and Randy Vasquez. All three are among the most hittable pitchers in the league this season. However, there are rumors that the Cardinals may be willing to trade players such as Brendan Donovan. Trade winds are swirling in South Beach as well. It would not surprise anyone if Miami dealt either or both veteran starting pitchers this week. Fantasy managers will probably have to start Donovan this week. But this is one of several fluid situations around the league that we all must navigate.
Week 19 Ballpark Effects Notes
Some interesting developments have taken place in Tampa Bay and Sacramento (home of the Athletics) as the season has progressed. Sutter Health Park has continued to be a hitter’s haven. However, the pendulum has evened out in terms of favorability towards left and right-handed hitters. Early in the year, it was much more favorable towards righties. However, it is now at a 110 overall factor for both left-handed and right-handed players. Even though the Athletics face some quality right-handed arms this week, their everyday bats should remain in fantasy starting lineups.
Steinbrenner Field has seen an opposite effect in recent weeks. It now has just a 94 overall park factor for left-handed hitters for the year. Meanwhile, that number has risen to 108 for right-handers. The Rays host the Dodgers for three games over the weekend.
