Early in the season, players may emerge who could be difference makers as the season progresses. Pay attention to who is starting strong as the season starts.
But remember, you need to play week to wee,k too.
Trust your gut, the statistics, and the matchups.
Week 1 Fantasy Draft EPL Waiver Wire
Week 1 suggestions (rostered 50% or less) are listed in order from most to least rostered.
Benjamin Sesko –Â Forward – Rostered 42% – Manchester United vs Arsenal
Man United has spent some money this summer, with attacker Sesko being the most recent. United fans are hoping he’s the final piece in what has the makings of a superb attack. Obviously, we will wait and see. It’s a tough opening day matchup, but things get easier for a few weeks after. Had he signed earlier, he would’ve been picked across all leagues as a top 10 forward at least. Sesko should be picked up in all leagues, even if it takes him a bit to get into the side.
Kieran Trippier – Defender – Rostered 37% – Aston Villa vs Newcastle
Trippier had a rough 2024-2025 season. He’d been a perennial EPL fantasy draft powerhouse, but some inconsistent defensive performances saw his role diminished. Newcastle are dealing with some injuries, and managers saw Trippier take advantage of that to end the season. While this may be a temporary starting spot, Trips is hard to pass up on the EPL waiver wire. There’s a big upside here to start the season.
Matt O’Riley – Midfielder – Rostered 35% – Brighton vs Fulham
O’Riley came on strong at the end of the season for the Seagulls. He ended the season with a goal and an assist over his final two games, and his point returns were consistent when he started. O’Riley could be a pick-up that you hold on to for the season. He was injured off and on last year, but at 24, it’s time for him to step up into a main player for Brighton. It’s a home game against Fulham in the opening week, so it’s a decent matchup too.
Pape Sarr – Midfielder – Rostered 18% – Tottenham vs Burnley
Sarr continued his time as a reliable player Spurs. In his defensive position, he managed three goals and two assists, but his points aren’t coming from defensive stats. Against newly promoted Burnley, there’s a strong chance that he’ll these points will add up. His preseason form shows a potential for another steady season.
Don’t forget there is a Friday kickoff, with Liverpool hosting Bournemouth to get the season going. Have fun! Good luck.
