MLB Injury Report
Kyle Tucker – OF Chicago Cubs
#Cubs place Kyle Tucker on the 10-day IL with a left calf strain (retro to 9/6). Moises Ballesteros recalled from Triple-A.
— Taylor McGregor (@Taylor_McGregor) September 9, 2025
This was to be expected, as Tucker hasn’t played in a game since September 2. He will now miss at least a week, given his retroactive date, but there’s a chance that he misses more. It’s been a frustrating delay for the Cubs, who took their time with this designation, but also believed that he could have been fine with rest. Now, he’ll get that rest and then some.
Bo Bichette – SS Toronto Blue Jays
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Bo Bichette had an MRI yesterday that revealed the sprain. Bichette had soreness on the shin and “a little bit” in the knee Sunday and again Monday, leading to MRI.
Bichette will rest the knee this week before next steps are decided.
— Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) September 9, 2025
Bichette injured himself while sliding into home plate on Saturday, and on Tuesday, it was revealed that he will need some extended rest to get himself right. The ominous part of this quote is that the team has yet to rule out this being a season-ending injury, so there is a chance that we’ve seen the last of him this year. Hoping that this isn’t the worst-case scenario, Bichette is eligible to return next week.
Ryan Pepiot – SP Tampa Bay Rays
Pitching change for #Rays on Wednesday: RHP Ryan Pepiot scratched due to "fatigue," Griffin Jax will be opener on a bullpen day
— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) September 10, 2025
Let’s hope that this isn’t a precursor to a major injury, as at times this is the case. Instead, let’s look at the numbers and make a note that he has thrown a career-high 163.0 innings this season, which is 33 more than he did last season. Perhaps he’s reached his limit and will need time over the offseason to regain strength.
Luis Garcia – SP Houston Astros
Through a team spokesman, Luis Garcia said he did not want to speak until he knows more about the extent of his injury. Joe Espada said the team doesn't know anything more than what it initially released. Garcia will obviously be evaluated and get imaging.
— Chandler Rome (@Chandler_Rome) September 10, 2025
This is obviously a very scary situation, as Garcia had just returned from an extended recovery process with Tommy John Surgery. Now, in his second game back, he felt elbow discomfort and immediately pulled himself out of the game. In addition, his body language, of not wanting to talk to reporters, suggests that this is quite serious. Let’s hope for the best.
Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update
Brewers injury updates:
-Nick Mears has played catch up to 105 ft. Mid-Sept. is his targeted return.
-Logan Henderson has a bullpen scheduled for 9/16
-Trevor Megill threw a live BP today
-Shelby Miller will will undergo surgery in the coming weeks to repair his UCL— Curt Hogg (@CyrtHogg) September 9, 2025
It was a big news day for the Brewers. From a fantasy perspective, Logan Henderson will throw a bullpen session next week, but he’s still likely not returning this year. As for Trevoe Megill, he threw his live bullpen session, as his quest to return faster than any human imaginable continues. Finally, Shelby Miller will undergo season-ending surgery soon, and there’s a chance that this will finish off his career.
Baltimore Orioles – Team Update
#Orioles injury updates from Tony Mansolino:
-RHP Dean Kremer (forearm) felt good after catch Sunday. Playing catch again today.
-C Adley Rutschman (oblique) to take BP this weekend
-INF Jordan Westburg (ankle) could begin rehab assignment this weekend
— Jake Rill (@JakeDRill) September 9, 2025
Big update here on some important pieces of the puzzle for the Orioles. First, Dean Kremer’s return will be slow-played, as forearm soreness can develop into something serious. Chances are we won’t see him again this season, and there’s a possibility that his return next year leads to another injury if this goes untreated. His development is one to watch. As for Adley Rutschman, his batting practice session will go a long way in determining if and when he can return this season. It’s unlikely that we’ve seen the last of him in 2025, but you never know. Finally, Jordan Westburg, beginning a rehab assignment this weekend, brings about the possibility of a return within the week that follows.
Jeremiah Jackson – IF/OF Baltimore Orioles
Orioles’ Tony Mansolino says “all indications” are Jeremiah Jackson is fine after leaving with an elbow injury tonight. Doesn’t expect Jackson to undergo any further testing and hopes to have him back in lineup tomorrow.
— Matt Weyrich (@ByMattWeyrich) September 10, 2025
The good news here is that it appears that Jackson is fine and could be back in the lineup as soon as today. It is something to monitor, though, as even the smallest of injuries can sometimes affect a player’s output, and Jackson’s start to his professional career has been outstanding. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him slow down, even slightly, for the next little while.
Anthony Santander – OF Toronto Blue Jays
Bichette was sore Sun/Mon and had MRI on knee. “We’ll see” if 10 days is all he’s out, but he won’t do anything this week.
Santander experienced low back tightness and isn’t starting rehab today as planned. Timing TBD. “Shouldn’t push him back too much.” RHH swing improving.
— Blake Murphy (@BlakeMurphyODC) September 9, 2025
Santander, having a rehab start delayed due to another ailment, is a bad omen for a quick return. He’s already missed a lot of time, and pushing it back even more for a different part of the body is quite discouraging. While the team doesn’t believe he’ll miss much extra time, every day lost is big, given how little time there is left in the season.
Adolis Garcia – OF Texas Rangers
Adolis García took live batting practice pregame today.
Bruce Bochy said he’s doing much better than expected and could even be activated in New York this weekend.
Still taking to day by day tho.
— kennedi landry (@kennlandry) September 9, 2025
While a lot can happen from now until this weekend, it’s promising nonetheless that Garcia has a projected return timeline of less than a week. Stay tuned.
