Week 23 – Fantasy Draft EPL Waiver Wire

The week 23 EPL waiver wire sees Fantrax managers dealing with the aftermath of some topsy-turvy results last weekend. Last weekend, no top four teams won, and none in the bottom six lost. It’s fun, but it certainly makes it hard for Fantrax managers to gauge matchups.

Last week’s suggestion, Emile Smith Rowe, had another good game for Fulham, but he was taken off early due to an injury. Managers should keep an eye on the severity of the injury. Kieran Trippier went a full 90 minutes in a disappointing 0-0 draw against Wolves, earning double-digit points with the clean sheet. Eli Kroupi was solid again in a 1-1 draw to Brighton. He got the start and may hold onto that spot. Mateus Mané had just a single shot on target and not much else to show for his 90 minutes of play.

Week 23 Fantasy Draft EPL Waiver Wire

Week 23 suggestions (rostered 50% or less) are listed in order from most to least rostered.

Conor Gallagher – Midfielder  – Rostered 45% – Burnley vs Tottenham

Gallagher was a very good EPL Fantrax player before his time in Spain. The Spurs have brought him in, and he got the start immediately. He played the full 90 and scored a solid eight Fantrax points. With the continued injury and inconsistency for Spurs, Gallagher could find a place in this team and make a difference. Fantrax managers looking for a long term solution should be looking at Gallagher as an option on the EPL waiver wire.

Tomas Soucek – Midfielder  – Rostered 17% – West Ham vs Sunderland

Soucek has only started eight games this season, which is surprising for such a quality player on a team with such struggles. He did start the last two games with strong Fantrax points in both. There are injuries and transfer rumors, so Soucek may keep his place in the lineup moving forward. If so, he’s a big player who can earn points defensively, but will contribute to that attack when possible.

Marcus Edwards – Forward – Rostered 10% – Burnley vs Tottenham

Edwards has started in four of the last five for Burnley, scoring double-digit Fantrax points in three of those four starts. He had the tying goal against Liverpool last weekend, and he added an assist the weekend before. Spurs have lost two in a row and haven’t won over the last four. Burnley need results if they are going to have a fighting chance to move out of the bottom three. There aren’t lots of quality forwards still available in most Fantrax EPL leagues, so he’s worth a risk.

James Hill – Defender  – Rostered 3% – Bournemouth vs Liverpool

Hill has now started in four in a row for Bournemouth and is averaging over 10 points a game over that stretch. They have a win, two ties, and a loss over that stretch. Hill is picking up serious defensive stats, as he has yet to help keep a clean sheet. That stretch included Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spurs, so playing Liverpool isn’t necessarily a major detraction for Fantrax managers looking at Hill on a the EPL waiver wire.

Don’t start ignoring matchups just because of one wild weekend. Go with the good matchups and your gut. Have fun. Good luck.
