Week 1 Fantasy Draft EPL Waiver Wire

Week 1 suggestions (rostered 50% or less) are listed in order from most to least rostered.

Georginio Rutter – Forward – 45% Rostered – Brighton vs Aston Villa

Quality forwards went quickly in most drafts, so for Fantrax managers looking for a forward who should start, Rutter offers a solid option. Rutter had three goals and five assists last season and started 20 games. Brighton is short on options up front, so he really should start. He could be a steady starter for the Seagulls and for Fantrax managers, giving him added value for a pick-up early in the season. Aston Villa had a good season last year, so it’s not the best matchup, but with so few available forwards, Rutter has value.

Mathias Jensen – Midfield – 38% Rostered – Brentford vs Tottenham

Jensen should be a central player in the Brentford midfield again. There were stretches last season, when he was healthy, that Jensen put up good points in and week out. Early in the season, managers will need to be sure they have players they can rely on to start and add points to the squad. Spurs finished just outside the relegation zone last season, so it’ll be a wait-and-see situation for how they start the season. Managers looking for a midfield starter on the EPL waiver wire should be looking here.

Abdukodir Khusanov – Defender -30% Rostered – Manchester City vs Bournemouth

Khusanov started 15 games last season for Man City, including their last seven. He had a good World Cup too, so he should be in the mix as a regular starter for City’s usually strong defense. City are normally very good at home, and while Bournemouth was quality last season, they have a new skipper, and there are lots of unknowns. Fantrax managers know City will rotate, so Khusanov isn’t a sure thing, but if he starts, there are solid points here and always a chance at a clean sheet.

Ben White – Defender -28% Rostered – Arsenal vs Coventry

White should get the start in week 1 for the reigning champs. He will be hoping to start the season well, as last year was a mixed bag of injuries, rotations, and inconsistent play. Ben White is a good player, and he’s able to add value on both ends of the field. With Justin Timber out, this is his spot for now. The Gunners had the best defensive record in the league, and they’ll be expected to start that way again, especially against newly promoted Coventry. It’s a good pickup on the Week 1 EPL waiver wire.

Check team news and be ready to make changes. It’s a new season! Have fun. Good luck!
