Gameweek 10 Waiver Wire Targets

Semi Ajayi

Position: Defender

Team: West Bromwich Albion

Ownership: 4%

Next 5 Fixtures: SHU (H), CPL (H), new (A), mci (A), AVL (H)

Prospects: Ajayi has finally broken even after having a nightmare start to the fantasy season! In his last two games vs. Tottenham and Manchester United, he has managed scores of 8.25 and 7.25 respectively. West Brom as a whole has also defended a lot better, and have a fairly friendly run of games coming up. Ajayi is always a massive risk for a negative score, but the upside of a DEF2 is there with the way West Brom have been defending recently. A clean sheet could see Ajayi reach close to 20 points, and it is very possible we see at least 1-2 clean sheets over the next five games. At only 4% rostered, Ajayi should be available in most leagues if you are looking for a streamable DEF3.

Verdict: I would use a low-level waiver claim or 0 FAAB on Ajayi. As stated he is a risk for a negative score, so he is only worth picking up on a free add on the Gameweek 10 waiver wire.

Bertrand Traore

Position: Midfielder

Team: Brighton

Ownership: 18%

Next 5 Fixtures: whu (A), NEW (H), wol (A), BUR (H), wba (A)

Prospects: Traore put in a shift with a 15 point outing after coming on for the injured Barkley. With any hamstring issue, I will assume Barkley will be out for at least 6-8 weeks, meaning his spot is up for grabs. Despite Traore’s great performance, there is every chance Hourihane has his number called back to the XI. If Traore gets the start he is a must-start player over the next month or so. He commanded almost all set plays and can shoot from distance. I would say in his starts he has MID3 value with the potential of MID2 upside when Villa click. If you have a lot of spare room in your roster I would recommend putting a claim in for BOTH Traore and Hourihane then dropping whichever one doesn’t start.

Verdict: I would use a mid-tier or 2-5% of my FAAB on Traore. I would recommend more, but he is far from guaranteed the start next gameweek!

John Fleck

Position: Midfielder

Team: Sheffield United

Ownership: 22%

Next 5 Fixtures: wba (A), LEI (H), sou (A), MUN (H), bri (A)

Prospects: Fleck marked his return to the side with a solid 8.5 points in the loss to West Ham. Sheffield has been very goal shy this season, and Fleck will hopefully help to change that a bit. Sheffield United face somewhat of a tough schedule, but all against inconsistent teams. Regardless Fleck will have a solid base of points making him an every-week MID5 starter. Fleck will also take his fair share of set plays which could add in a few key passes and assist potential in some matchups. While this isn’t a pickup that seems the flashiest having 1-2 of these “Steady Eddy” type players can help you win leagues.

Verdict: I would look to use a mid-tier waiver claim, or 3-5% of my FAAB on Fleck if I have a weaker midfield in my roster.

Gameweek 10 Trade-In Target

Mason Greenwood

Position: Forward

Team: Manchester United

Next 5 Fixtures: sou (A), whu (A), MCI (H), shu (A), LEE (H)

Prospects: Greenwood has missed out the last few games due to illness, but luckily for him United has looked poor going forward. Against West Brom, some VAR help gave United a much needed three points. Greenwood offers the United attack a different dynamic, and clinical finishing that Ole and United fans are missing. Mata has been ok in his starts, but Greenwood should instantly slot in after an appearance or two from the bench to gain fitness. I expect Mason to make the RW spot his own unless he faces injury or suspension. In games he starts, he is a FWD2 with FWD1 upside and could deliver a similar points tally to Martial this season in fewer minutes.

Verdict: I would look to offer a FWD3 with a MID5/DEF3 to get back Greenwood, or offer a different FWD2 in a 1:1 trade. Try offering the likes of Torres, McBurnie, Jota, Firmino, Maupay,  Abraham, Masuaku, Kante in a package for Greenwood.
