3 Fantasy Baseball Thoughts for the 2025 Los Angeles Dodgers

Michael Conforto is Next

Winning and performing at a high level is contagious. Both seem to consistently happen for the Dodgers. Next on the list for a career jumpstart is Michael Conforto after signing with Los Angeles. Conforto seemingly had a bright future when he came up with the Mets but he got hurt and the last three years have been rough.

Despite a few strong seasons with New York, Conforto is a career .251 hitter, and that’s something we can work with. In 130 games last year, Conforto did hit 20 home runs to go along with 66 RBI. In moving from San Francisco to the Dodgers, Conforto gets a better park and a better lineup. His .212 ISO last year was his best since 2019. That shouldn’t come as a surprise as Conforto had one of the best seasons of his career from a batted ball perspective. Conforto had his second-best barrel rate (11.8%) and hard-hit rate (45.8%). It also helps to explain why his .488 xSLG outpaced his .450.

We can be sure that the Dodgers saw the same, or similar things, and that’s why they pounced. Based on Conforto’s new home, and lineup, his ADP is only going to climb this offseason. The good news for those seeking value though, is that coming from around pick 440.

Tommy Edman Will Keep it Going

For as much as we can say about the Dodgers payroll, they are versatile and attack their team build from multiple angles. One angle was the trade acquisition of Tommy Edman as he spent the year batting back from a wrist injury. In 37 regular season games, Edman hit just .237 with six home runs, six stolen bases, and 20 RBI, and 20 runs scored. However, we all know what he did in the postseason as Edman just ook over.

It’s unfair to expect him to continue at that level, but the least, Edman will return to being the player he was with the Cardinals previously. We know the Dodgers will take advantage of his versatility and fantasy managers should be able to at some point. The problem right now is that Edman is only eligible in the outfield and that’s where he’s slated to start the season. That is based on where things stand in December though so we’re allowed some optimism.

Edman won’t hit much more than 10-15 home runs to go along with 60 RBI, but that’s not what we’re after. Especially with the Dodgers, Edman should be good for 30 stolen bases and 85 to 90 runs scored and that fits onto most teams. While eligibility is the driving factor here, Edman is being drafted over 100 picks later than his 2023 cost.

Tyler Glasnow is Still a Strong Option

The Dodgers are both strong and weak when it comes to starting pitchers. They have a plethora of options, but each comes with its own set of health concerns. When it comes to Tyler Glasnow, the good news is that he enters 2025 with a clean bill of health.

In 134 innings last year, Glasnow couldn’t have pitched much better. He finished his first season in Los Angeles with a 3.49 ERA but that came with a 2.62 xERA. The right-hander struck out 11.28 batters per nine innings and opposing hitters had a barrel rate of just 8.2% against Glasnow.

The concern is that both his innings and his 22 starts were career highs. We know that the Dodgers are going to tread carefully with Glasnow. This is a situation where quality might be better than quantity. Around pick 100, it’s easier to stomach that. Additionally, it’s also a better spot to take a chance on 30 starts. We know that talent and upside is there.
