The Philadelphia Phillies have been pretty consistent playoff contenders over the last several years, but it seems like they’re reaching a point where they need to win it all. They added Max Kepler in that pursuit. They also traded for pitchers like Jesús Luzardo and Jordan Romano. They are still a talented group looking to repeat as NL East champions. In this article, we’ll take a look at the top Phillies prospects who might be ready to help them take the next step.
It’s always good to have a potential ace in your farm system, and that is what the Phillies have in Andrew Painter. They’ve made some good acquisitions in trades that have bolstered their farm system, too. There are several prospects on this list with some good breakout potential. Overall there is talent here, but it’s not the strongest farm system.
Top 20 Philadelphia Phillies Prospects for Dynasty Leagues
1. RHP Andrew Painter, Age: 21
If not for Tommy John surgery, Andrew Painter would not still be a prospect. He was on his way to debuting and solidifying himself as a top-shelf arm by last season. However, the injury monster doesn’t care how good a player is. Before the injury, he had a mid-90s fastball and the rest of his arsenal was just as good. Painter showed great command, too. All of that is on top of an imposing 6-foot-7 frame. The early returns coming off surgery are looking good. At the end of the day Painter’s upside is as high as any pitching prospect in baseball. There’s still plenty of reason to believe that he is still right on track to be a frontline starter, if not a pitcher with the kind of ceiling to be regularly competing for awards.

2. SS Aidan Miller, Age: 20
By the end of 2024, Aidan Miller got a cup of coffee in Double-A. While that didn’t go well, his overall numbers stand out. Between three levels he slashed .261/.366/.446 with 11 home runs and 23 stolen bases along with a 12.1 percent walk rate. His ceiling is extremely high with the potential to contribute in several different fantasy baseball categories. Miller likely heads back to Double-A where more of a sample should produce much better stats. Even though he’s a couple of years away, his potential makes him a top-100 dynasty prospect.

3. RHP Moisés Chace, Age: 21
The Phillies acquired Moisés Chace from the Orioles at the trade deadline. After the trade Philadelphia assigned him to Double-A where he posted a 3.66 ERA and a 16.02 K/9 in 19.2 innings. His fastball is mid-90s with a ton of ride. The secondaries are just as good, too. Chace has a history of issuing walks, which will need to be improved for him to reach his lofty ceiling. His arsenal is so good that the strikeouts will come regardless, which adds to his value in fantasy baseball. There is a risk that he moves to the bullpen, but with his high-end fastball, he should be successful regardless of his future role.

4. C Eduardo Tait, Age: 18
At just 17 years old Eduardo Tait dominated the Complex before a promotion to Single-A. After his promotion he hit .269 with 5 home runs, but a 28 percent strikeout rate. The whiffs were much lower on the Complex, so that seems like just a blip. Especially considering Tait will be 18 until the end of August. By the end of the season, he will have a chance to see High-A and continue to show his prowess as a bat-first backstop.

5. OF Justin Crawford, Age: 21
Being the son of Carl Crawford implies speed, which is absolutely true with Justin Crawford. He stole 42 bases between High-A and Double-A while adding nine home runs. That being said his groundball rate indicates power is not likely to be a big part of his game. A strikeout rate under 20 percent speaks to his ability to get his bat to the ball. If he starts lifting the ball more it will have a direct correlation to his fantasy stock. At present, he has a solid ceiling as a table setter who can run well and make contact.

6. OF Griffin Burkholder, Age: 19
In terms of a fantasy baseball ceiling, Griffin Burkholder has a big one. He was the Phillies’ second-round pick in 2024 but played in just one game before a hamstring injury cut the debut short. Burkholder’s speed is his best tool, but there is potential for power, too. As a high school draftee there is still risk involved, but there is a chance he winds up as a legitimate speed threat with power added in.

7. OF Gabriel Rincones Jr., Age: 24
This system is flush with outfielders within their top 10 for this list. Gabriel Rincones Jr. spent most of 2024 in Double-A where he slashed .263/.357/.453 with 11 home runs and 20 stolen bases, as well as a 25.2 percent strikeout rate. There is an element of swing and miss to his game. Rincones Jr. has a physical swing from the left side of the plate that can absolutely launch baseballs when he squares them up. That potential power is enticing for fantasy baseball lineups.

8. RHP Mick Abel, Age: 23
It’s very hard to rank Mick Abel right now. He has such good stuff. With a fastball that can get into the upper-90’s and a bevy of offspeed pitches that can generate whiffs, his potential seems like it could still be extremely high. Where Abel becomes hard to project is with his command. His BB/9 in Triple-A last season was 6.46. That will clearly have to improve if he’s going to have any role at the big league level. He was added to the 40-man roster, as well.

9. 3B Otto Kemp, Age: 25
Otto Kemp played at four different levels in 2024, the highest being Triple-A. On the season he slashed .285/.392/.489 with 16 home runs and 20 stolen bases. His 13-game stint in Triple-A was not as successful. He should head back there to start the 2025 season. Kemp also played every infield position except shortstop, as well as a couple games in the outfield, during the 2024 season. His defensive versatility could lead to him being a multi-position eligible player who can steal some bases and maybe hit some homers.

10. OF Dante Nori, Age: 20
Before Philadelphia selected Burkholder, they drafted Dante Nori 27th overall. After signing he hit .240 with four stolen bases while walking more than he struck out in 14 games in Single-A. The reason he sits lower on the list is that it seems like he has a profile that lends itself more to real life than fantasy. Nori is a great defender with great speed. How he lands as a fantasy baseball player will be entirely up to how his hit tool plays in the professional ranks.

11. RHP Seth Johnson, Age: 26
In the same trade that brought in Chace, the Phillies also got Seth Johnson. After the trade he did debut for one start with Philadelphia that lasted 2.1 innings with little positives to take away. In the minors he posted a 2.73 over 95.2 innings with an 8.37 K/9 and walk rate just shy of five BB/9. The fact that Johnson is on the 40-man roster means he should get another chance, but without command improvements he’ll be hard to trust.

12. 2B Devin Saltiban, Age: 20
It was a standout year for Devin Saltiban in Single-A last season, slashing .237/.346/.428 with 17 homer runs and stealing 22 bases. He showed his potential in both the power and speed arenas, which is always an enticing combination for fantasy baseball. There are some questions surrounding his hit tool, but his strikeout rate was a couple of ticks below 25 percent and his walk rate was a couple of ticks over 12 percent. Saltiban will continue his development in High-A where he can continue to grow his fantasy value.

13. 3B Carson DeMartini, Age: 22
A somewhat popular breakout pick among the few prospect writers I’ve talked to is Carson DeMartini. He was the Phillies’ fourth-rounder in 2024 who slashed .315/.385/.478 with two home runs and eight stolen bases in Single-A after signing. In college strikeouts were an issue, which is something to watch. DeMartini is a lefty power-first corner infielder who is certainly a prospect to watch in 2025.

14. SS Aroon Escobar, Age: 20
Another pick to break out this season is Aroon Escobar. Following two seasons in the DSL, he made his Complex debut last season where he hit .338 with three home runs and nine stolen bases. What’s really interesting is that he walked at a 20.2 percent clip and only struck out 9.6 percent of the time in 104 plate appearances. Escobar showed a solid hit tool foundation as he heads into his full-season debut this year.

15. RHP Jean Cabrera, Age: 23
After two years in Single-A, Jean Cabrera was able to go from High-A to Double-A in 2024. On the season he threw 106.2 innings with a 3.80 ERA with a 9.28 K/9 and 2.78 BB/9. His mid-90s fastball and great changeup give him a good starting point to remain in the rotation long-term. If Cabrera can stay as a rotation arm, then he should be ranked higher on this list, however, there’s enough risk that he winds up in the bullpen that he winds up in this position. Either way, he has some good stuff and showed he can fill up the zone.

16. OF John Spikerman, Age: 21
So far on this list, the Phillies 2024 first, second, and fourth-round picks have been ranked. John Spikerman is the missing piece as their third-round selection. He debuted in Single-A where he hit .226 with seven stolen bases in 17 games. Even during his time in college there was not a ton of power, so it will be paramount for Spikerman to continue to get on base either with hits or walks in order for his speed to play out in the form of stolen bases.
Lucky number 3!

17. SS Bryan Rincon, Age: 21
There is a certain upside with Bryan Rincon that is shown through where he’s ranked on real-life lists. That being said he slashed .198/.331/.322 with a pair of home runs and eight stolen bases in both A-ball levels. As the triple slash implies, his 16.2 percent walk rate is very nice. His 31 percent strikeout rate is not. It’s his defensive prowess that adds value to his profile with a lot of questions about his bat.

18. OF Hendry Mendez, Age: 21
There was a lot of hype around Hendry Mendez as a Brewers prospect, but he did not live up to it as a young prospect for the level. Following a trade to Philadelphia, he was able to slash .284/.386/.391 with a 13.9 percent strikeout and walk rate. This was a clear step forward in production, but the counting stats still weren’t there. Those will need to show up in order for him to remain a fantasy-viable prospect.

19. C Alirio Ferrebus, Age: 19
In 2024 Alirio Ferrebus performed well enough in the DSL to receive a promotion to the Complex League. Overall, he hit .351 with three home runs and a sub-10 percent strikeout rate. Performing at these levels isn’t indicative of future success, but Ferrebus absolutely showed he has the hitting chops to succeed as a professional. If all goes right he will continue to grow into a power-led catcher profile.
Alirio Ferrebus is on an absolute tear to start off the DSL season!

20. OF Raylin Heredia, Age: 21
The Phillies signed Raylin Heredia during the 2021 international free agency period. He spent last season in Single-A where he hit .245 with eight home runs and nine stolen bases. There are a lot of risks with his hit tool, as evidenced by his 33.6 percent strikeout rate. That being said, he has some legitimate power that is worth noting. If he learns to harness it in game a little more then he has the potential to move up this list.
