Week 21 Hitting Planner for Fantasy Baseball

This coming week represents the three-quarter mark in the 2025 Major League Baseball schedule. Soon, the sprint towards the fantasy baseball playoffs will begin. With each week growing in importance, fantasy managers must do their best to maximize their matchup potential. Below you will see data on all 30 MLB teams regarding the starting pitchers they will face, as well as ballpark factors. This information should help you get the most out of your lineup. Here is the Week 21 Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner.

Week 21 Schedule Notes

The distribution of games this week is equal and standard. Six teams play seven games this week. Those teams are Arizona, Colorado, Detroit, Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Washington. Interestingly, there are no teams that play seven home games in Week 21, but three (Arizona, Detroit, and Philadelphia) that play seven on the road. Nine teams are at home the whole week, and nine more are away for the entire week. That leaves 12 teams that play split home and road weeks. The schedule had leaned heavily towards Monday versus Thursday games since the All-Star break, but that will even out a bit this week. There will be 11 games played on Monday compared to seven on Thursday. There are no day games on either Monday or Tuesday, so fantasy managers should have an easier time setting weekly lineups before lock.

Week 21 Starting Pitching Matchup Notes

In the interest of not wanting to sound like a broken record, I wondered to myself if I should discuss a matchup other than whoever is facing the Colorado Rockies. And I will. But first, holy hell, is Colorado’s pitching staff terrible? Their ERA since the All-Star break is 8.30! And their FIP isn’t much better at 6.53. No other team in the Majors has a FIP over 5.00 since the break. Sure, some of that “credit” goes to Antonio Senzatela and Austin Nola, neither of whom will pitch this week. However, fantasy managers should still start Cardinal and Diamondback hitters with confidence. Arizona gets the bonus of Coors Field. Outfielder Alek Thomas and infielder Blaze Alexander have been hot of late. Both are rostered in less than 20 percent of Fantrax leagues and could be worth adding depending on your other options.

Atlanta and Washington both have staff ERAs above 6.00 since the Midsummer Classic. The New York Mets will face the Braves to start the week. However, they do face Spencer Strider in that series. New York then hosts Seattle over the weekend, including matchups against Bryan Woo and George Kirby. I would still start the usual suspects in the Mets’ lineup, but I would not force any of their ancillary players, including the recently acquired Cedric Mullins, into Week 21 lineups. Kansas City’s offense has been enigmatic this season. They face Washington to start the week before hosting the White Sox this weekend. Their everyday hitters should be in line for a good week. That includes Mike Yastrzemski, who has taken over as the team’s leadoff hitter versus right-handed pitching since coming via trade from San Francisco. The Royals face five righties this week.

Week 21 Ballpark Effects Notes

The four-game weekend series between Colorado and Arizona in Coors Field should supply plenty of fireworks. Not only does the ballpark provide one of the friendliest environments for hitters, but the starting pitchers involved are not exactly awe-inspiring. Colorado is scheduled to trot out Bradley Blalock, Tanner Gordon, Anthony Molina, and Kyle Freeland. That quartet has allowed 140 earned runs in 194.2 innings pitched this year. On the other side, Ryne Nelson is the only Arizona starter who has been better than average this season. The Rockies are the Rockies, but some of their primary hitters are in play this week.

As great as Coors Field is, neither Arizona nor Colorado takes the top spot in the Week 21 hitting planner rankings relative to ballpark factors. That distinction goes to the Athletics. They are home all week, hosting six games. Sutter Health Park has an overall factor of 109 for left-handed hitters and a 108 mark for righties. The Athletics have been up and down lately from an offensive standpoint, but can put up runs in bunches. They should face five right-handed pitchers, giving their lefty hitters a slight edge. The Athletics have used three different hitters (Shea Langeliers, Carlos Cortes, and Lawrence Butler) in the leadoff spot over their past three games. It may be a guessing game to see how this plays out this week. But Langeliers and Butler should be solid bets for above-average offensive production in Week 21.
