2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up Series #139 Demetrio Crisantes

We’re 131 days away from Opening Day, and today’s spotlight turns to another name steadily climbing my 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up board. Coming in at #139 is Demetrio Crisantes, an infielder in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization whose advanced approach, growing strength, and defensive versatility have made him one of the most quietly exciting young bats in their system. With a hit tool that keeps trending up and early signs of impact contact, Crisantes enters 2026 as a legitimate breakout candidate in dynasty formats.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #139 Demetrio Crisantes

The Diamondbacks keep quietly churning out polished bats, and Demetrio Crisantes looked like the next in line before his 2025 season was cut short by injury. He was young for High-A and playing most nights on the left side of the infield in a league and home park that rarely helps hitters. Even so, his at-bats already looked big-league mature, and the early contact profile suggested there was more here than just table-setting skills.

Unfortunately, the 2025 season did not allow Crisantes to fully capitalize on that momentum. Now 20 years old, he got off to a solid start at High-A Hillsboro before a left shoulder injury ended his season in mid-May. He logged just 34 games (151 plate appearances) in 2025 before undergoing season-ending surgery. In that limited sample, he slashed .252/.358/.415 with 4 home runs and 6 steals, and, most importantly, his advanced approach translated cleanly: 21 walks, 19 strikeouts, and a 5.5% swinging-strike rate. Instead of a true breakout season, 2025 became a prolonged rehab year, meaning our preseason “arrow up” projection was delayed rather than disproven.

Before the injury, Crisantes was showing the kind of underlying traits that matter. The batted-ball mix still pointed to intent and feel: a 45.9% fly-ball rate, 47.7% pull rate, and 31.2% oppo clip, rare balance for a 20-year-old. It wasn’t empty loft, either; the swing was consistently on plane, and his selective aggression helped him get to impact without selling out. Power remains the long-term swing factor, but the bat speed, leverage, and swing path support future 50/55 raw as he continues to mature physically. In a league that usually suppresses extra-base damage, a .163 ISO at his age checked the right developmental boxes.

The risk factors here are straightforward: a fly-ball, pull-leaning profile can create BABIP variance and streakiness, and missing nearly an entire season slows down reps against better spin. But the foundation, approach, contact quality, and defensive versatility remain intact. Crisantes showed enough arm for third and the actions to stay at shortstop for now, which helps the everyday projection and long-term fantasy value. Even with the shortened season, he stayed firmly within the Top-150 prospect mix (landing around No. 139) because nothing about his underlying profile changed; only the timeline did.

Fantasy Outlook

In Dynasty, Crisantes is the kind of quietly bankable bat I like to get in on a half-step early. The OBP skills are real, and the combination of elite swing decisions and low whiff rate plays up in Points formats where his walk rate and contact efficiency carry added weight. In standard Roto, you’re betting on a plus hit tool that stabilizes average with mid-teens power now and room for more as the body matures; tack on a handful of steals from average speed and good feel, and you’ve got a high-floor everyday profile. The park and league likely mask some of the upside at the moment, so this is a buy window before a summer power tick or a move to a friendlier hitting environment nudges the helium. With an ETA around 2028, he’s a strong add in deeper leagues now and a watchlist priority in shallower formats for when the power catches up to the approach. If he returns healthy in 2026, there’s every reason to believe Crisantes can pick up exactly where he left off. The skill set is still that of a potential breakout bat; the injury just delayed when we get to see it.
