2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up Series #137 Braylon Doughty

We’re 128 days from Opening Day, and today’s entry in my 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series shifts the spotlight to one of Cleveland’s most intriguing young arms. Coming in at #137 is Braylon Doughty, a 20-year-old right-hander in the Cleveland Guardians organization whose combination of arm strength, athleticism, and steadily improving command has started to elevate his long-term projection. With a fastball that jumps on hitters, a pair of secondaries flashing above-average, and real developmental momentum from his 2025 season, Doughty enters 2026 as a legitimate upward-mobility play in dynasty formats.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #137 Braylon Doughty

The Guardians have made a habit of turning strike-throwing teens into big-league arms, and Braylon Doughty quietly fit that mold throughout his 2025 campaign in A-ball. At just 19, he paired real bat-miss with contact management, and the underlying run estimators backed up the idea that his success wasn’t smoke and mirrors. For dynasty managers who gravitate toward young pitchers who limit walks, keep the ball in the yard, and show early command feel, Doughty’s first full season delivered exactly that.

Across 85.1 innings, Doughty finished with a 3.48 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, supported by a 10.44 K/9, 2.43 BB/9, and a healthy 4.0 K/BB. The bat-miss showed up in a 12.7% swinging-strike rate, and the estimators painted an even more optimistic picture, a 2.85 FIP and 2.86 xFIP indicated that his stuff and strike-throwing carried the performance rather than ballpark or batted-ball luck. What stood out most for a teenager was how well he controlled contact. A 49.4% ground-ball rate, 28.6% fly-ball rate, and 0.42 HR/9 is the exact blueprint for suppressing damage while learning the nuances of sequencing. His performance relative to league norms, outperforming average by -1.91 ERA, -0.37 WHIP, and -3.39 BB/9, underscored just how polished he already looked for his age.

On feel and pitch shape, the profile read like a classic Cleveland developmental starter: a fastball he could work to the bottom of the zone to drive grounders, a breaking ball capable of missing bats, and enough separation in his secondary pitches to keep opposite-handed hitters from sitting on one speed. While public Stuff+ metrics aren’t available at this level, the SwStr% and batted-ball mix strongly suggested that his pitch shapes played above the grade. There’s still room for growth, the WHIP and .252 average against pointed to some zone hittability, and the 12.7% SwStr, while strong, wasn’t quite in “elite” territory. Sharpening a true put-away secondary and tightening glove-side command are the logical next steps to nudge the whiff rate into the mid-teens. Even if his home-run suppression (0.42 HR/9) regresses slightly, and xFIP already assumes that regression, the ground-ball tilt provides a sturdy margin for error.

Context matters with teenage arms, and Doughty checked the important developmental boxes. He was age-advanced for the level, handled a meaningful workload, and lived in the zone without paying for it in extra-base damage. The gap between ERA and the estimators looked more like sequencing noise than a real flaw, though monitoring how his stuff holds deeper into outings will be a key 2026 checkpoint. If he maintains this foundation, strike throwing, ground-ball efficiency, and bat-miss that trends upward, a jump from his current #137 ranking into the Top-100 discussion is firmly on the table.

Fantasy Outlook

In Dynasty, Doughty is the kind of teenager I want to roster before the helium hits: strike-throwing foundation, ground-ball skills, and run estimators that validate the box score. He’s a long runway play (ETA 2029), but Cleveland’s track record gives him a developmental tailwind. In Roto, the grounders and low HR/9 profile help protect ratios as the strikeouts creep up; in Points, that 4.0 K/BB and 2.43 BB/9 play right away as he advances. He’s a priority add in deeper formats and a strong watchlist name in shallower dynasties. If the whiff rate ticks up with a firmer put-away breaker, he graduates into a Top-100 prospect and a potential SP3/SP4 fantasy outcome with ratio-friendly volume.
