2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up Series #132 Anderson Brito

We’re 124 days from Opening Day, and the next arm in my 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series is one I’ve been pounding the table for since early 2024. Coming in at #132 is Anderson Brito, my breakout pick long before the industry caught on, and he more than lived up to the hype in 2025. The fastball shape, athletic delivery, and relentless strike-throwing finally clicked in unison this past season, turning Brito from an intriguing projection play into one of the most efficient young arms in the Astros system. Few pitchers in the minors took a bigger step forward, and even fewer did it with the level of consistency and polish Brito showed down the stretch.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #132 Anderson Brito

Houston keeps finding ways to turn cheap Latin signings and live-armed teens into real-deal pitching prospects, and Anderson Brito looks like the next one to jump a tier. At just 20 in High-A, he’s missing bats at an advanced clip while holding runs in check. The frame, the life, the way hitters react, it all looks the part. Now the question is whether the walk rate can come down enough to unlock a true breakout.

Brito’s 2025 line tells a pretty clear story. Through 49.1 innings at High-A, he compiled a 3.28 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 65 punchouts, good for an 11.86 K/9. That’s nearly three strikeouts per nine, better than league average, and the 12.2% swinging-strike rate backs up the bat-missing. The contact he does allow trends on the ground (46.4% GB%), and he’s kept the ball in the yard with a microscopic 0.18 HR/9, which is why the FIP (2.91) and xFIP (3.54) both paint a strong underlying picture. Even with some natural home run regression likely, the shape of his contact profile supports the run prevention we’ve seen.

From a scouting lens, Brito’s fastball jumps on hitters with late life, giving him margin for error at the top and armside of the zone. The slider misses bats when he lands it glove-side, and the changeup flashes enough tumble to neutralize lefties. It’s more feel than finish right now, but you see the outline of a usable third pitch.

All is not perfect; the walks have been a real drag at 5.11 BB/9, and that shows up in the WHIP. His delivery can rush, and when the timing drifts, he’ll yank the breaker or sail the heater. The encouraging part is that nothing about the misses feels unfixable; it’s sequencing and strike throwing more than a “find the zone at all costs” profile. Houston’s track record with pitch shaping and simplifying attack plans gives him a realistic path to fringe-average command.

Developmentally, this is what you want to see at 20 in High-A: dominate when in the zone, miss bats with two pitches, and show enough changeup feel to project a starter’s mix. The ERA is more than two runs better than league average, the FIP/xFIP split looks sustainable, and the ground-ball rate should help keep damage muted as he climbs.

The next checkpoint is efficiency: more first-pitch strikes, fewer deep counts. If the walks back down even a half to one full tick per nine, Brito goes from “exciting live arm” to “rotation piece with impact strikeouts.”

Fantasy Outlook

Brito is trending up in dynasty, sitting around the back half of the top-150 prospects with an ETA of 2027. The strikeout foundation plays in every format, but the profile splits a bit by scoring. In Points, the Ks and potential bulk innings are the appeal, and walks don’t hurt as directly; he’s a worthy stash now in deeper leagues. In standard Roto/Cats, the elevated BBs carry WHIP risk, and some home run regression will nudge the ERA toward his xFIP if the walk rate doesn’t come down. Big picture: you’re betting on Houston’s dev machine to coax fringe-average command. If that happens, we’re talking mid-rotation strikeouts with strong ratios; if it doesn’t, the stuff is loud enough for a high-leverage relief outcome that still carries fantasy utility. In 16–20 team dynasty, I’m buying before Double-A, while in shallower formats, he’s a strong watchlist name for an early 2026 helium spike.
