2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up Series #122 Steele Hall

We’re 104 days from Opening Day, and as the Winter Meetings wrap up after a week of blockbuster signings and roster-shifting trades, the focus in my 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series turns back to the next wave of talent. Coming in at #122 is Steele Hall, the Reds’ 2025 first-round pick and one of the most explosive athletes in last summer’s draft class. Hall hasn’t logged a full pro season yet, but his combination of twitch, bat speed, and impact athleticism gives Cincinnati a high-upside middle-of-the-diamond profile, and dynasty managers a name worth tracking early as the player-development cycle resets heading into 2026.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #122 Steele Hall

One of the youngest players in the 2025 draft class, Hall rocketed up boards after reclassifying and torching Alabama high school pitching. Cincinnati made him the 9th overall pick, betting on his elite speed, shortstop defense, and fast-developing bat. Hall’s .484/.554/.871 line with 8 HR, 27 XBH, and 33 SB in 37 games earned him Alabama’s Mr. Baseball award and plenty of Turner/Swanson comps from the Reds’ brass. Now, he’ll begin a longer-term development track with the tools to be a five-category contributor.

The appeal is clear: Hall owns 80-grade speed (6.1 60-yard dash), natural athleticism, and smooth defensive actions that should keep him at shortstop long-term. His added strength over the past year turned singles into gap power, and scouts now project average raw power with upside to 15–20 HR in time. His strike-zone control stood out as well, just 14 K to 20 BB in his final season, and he rarely expanded versus high school arms. Defensively, he checks every box: range, arm, instincts.

The bat is still the swing piece. While Hall mashed in high school, evaluators flagged occasional issues handling spin and offspeed, typical of young prep hitters. Some see a free swinger who may take time adjusting to pro velocity and pitch sequencing. The Reds are optimistic, citing his work ethic, age (just turned 18 in July), and upward trajectory. Given his youth, the raw ingredients, and early performance indicators, Hall has a foundation that could translate into top-of-the-order value if the hit tool keeps trending up.

Fantasy Outlook
Hall is a dynasty lottery ticket worth stashing, one of the youngest, toolsiest bats in the 2025 class with leadoff potential, 30+ SB wheels, and sneaky pop. He’s years away, with likely growing pains in A-ball, but if the bat holds, he profiles as a 4-category threat with premium position eligibility. In FYPDs, he’s already top-10 caliber and climbing. Long timeline, but tantalizing ceiling.
