2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up Series #116 Alejandro Osuna

We’re 97 days from Opening Day, and the 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series reaches a natural gray area in the rankings. Coming in at #116 is Alejandro Osuna, a re-rank case whose inclusion reflects where he sat in my August update rather than strict rookie eligibility.

Osuna technically crossed the rookie threshold late in 2025, but his on-base skill set, speed, and ability to contribute at the big-league level make him worth addressing as the list resets. At 22, he has already shifted the conversation from projection to role and fit, giving dynasty managers a clearer picture of what he brings heading into 2026.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #116 Alejandro Osuna

Osuna narrowly crossed the rookie eligibility threshold late in 2025, but his placement here reflects his standing in my August rankings and serves as a re-rank checkpoint as the list resets. Even with that caveat, Osuna’s performance demands attention. At 22, he has played his way into the conversation by doing the quiet, repeatable things well: getting on base, pressuring pitchers with speed, and refusing to give away at-bats. It is not loud production, but it is the kind that keeps lineups functioning.

Osuna’s profile starts with a disciplined, contact-driven approach that can play at the big-league level. Across 236 plate appearances between AA and AAA, he slashed .273/.391/.778 with a wRC+ around 120, and the plate skills back it up. A 5.5% swinging-strike rate paired with roughly a 12% walk rate and a 15% strikeout rate is an OBP foundation that holds up against quality pitching. He is comfortable letting the ball travel and using the whole field, shown by a spray profile that leans heavily opposite field without becoming passive. That approach makes him difficult to game plan for and fits cleanly into a deep Texas lineup that values table-setters.

The batted-ball mix explains both the value and the limitations. Osuna has leaned into line drives and ground balls, posting a 25.0% line-drive rate with a near-even split between grounders and fly balls. The power output is modest for now, reflected in a .113 ISO with 12 doubles, two triples, and two homers, but the tradeoff is a stable batting average and strong on-base production. There is room for more damage if he starts turning on inner-third pitches and lifting to the pull side a bit more, though an opposite-field heavy profile at the MLB level can tether production to BABIP swings and cap home run totals if the fly-ball rate does not move.

Speed is the secondary driver of his fantasy value. Fourteen stolen bases in this sample show real athleticism and good instincts, not just opportunistic running. Even in a crowded Texas outfield picture, Osuna offers a distinct skill set: contact, patience, and speed that can play in multiple lineup spots. That versatility gives him a usable floor and keeps him relevant even on days the bat does not do damage.

Fantasy Outlook

Osuna is best viewed as a re-rank transition piece rather than a traditional prospect at this point, but the fantasy value is real. In OBP leagues and points formats, his low-whiff, high-walk profile plays up, often outperforming his surface 5×5 line. In standard roto, he profiles as a table-setter who helps batting average, runs, and steals, with power likely settling in the single-digit to low double-digit range unless the pull and fly-ball rates tick up. The key variables are role stability in a crowded outfield and whether he adds a touch more loft. If either breaks right, he looks like a high-floor OF4 who can push into OF3 territory in OBP and points formats. Even without a power jump, Osuna’s blend of contact, patience, and speed makes him a worthwhile buy for contenders who want category juice without strikeout risk.
