Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Tuesday, March 17, 2026. In today’s edition, we get some positive news about Jose Ramirez’s shoulder, we get some good news alongside mixed reviews about Zach Neto’s wrist, and we are forced to play the waiting game on Seya Suzuki’s knee. Read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.
MLB Injury Report
Jose Ramirez – 3B Cleveland Guardians
A positive José RamÃrez update from Vogt: He's doing much better today after exiting Sunday with sore left shoulder. Tested it; no plans for imaging.
Vogt: "He's feeling much, much better today, so we're going to reassess him day by day. He should be just fine in a few days."

Fantastic news here, as the Guardians don’t deem it necessary for Ramirez to get any testing done on his injured shoulder. He felt fine a day after the incident, and it would appear that he will be ready for Opening Day. He will need to avoid rushing back too soon and testing it in a way that could re-aggravate the situation. That being said, this is good news for Guardians fans and fantasy owners everywhere.
Zach Neto – SS Los Angeles Angels
Zach Neto hit some balls off a tee today and he said he’s going to take BP on the field later. Says he’s feeling good.
He suffered a small sprain of his left wrist (not hand, as he said yesterday) on a head first slide on Saturday. Expects to miss just a few days.

This is potentially good news, as it appears to eliminate the risk of a major injury. That said, he did suffer a sprain, and even in its mildest form, it needs time to rest before being used again. He underwent batting practice yesterday, which is not what the term “rest” means. Hopefully, he didn’t do additional damage to his already ailing wrist. Time will tell, but his return to action has already been pushed back from today until tomorrow.
Seiya Suzuki – OF Chicago Cubs
The Cubs have said that they don’t want to speculate on the severity or nature of the injury and will let the MRI do the talking. All we know is that Suzuki walked in gingerly yesterday, which wasn’t a good sign at all. While the exact diagnosis is not yet known, chances are that he will begin the season on the Injured List. It’s unclear if he will miss significant time or not, but the early signs are not promising.
Joe Musgrove – SP San Diego Padres
Joe Musgrove is expected to open the season on the IL, Craig Stammen said. Musgrove, who did not recover as well as hoped after his March 4 start against Great Britain, hasn’t thrown in a little more than a week.
— Dennis Lin (@dennistlin) March 16, 2026
This isn’t surprising, given that his health had been trending in the wrong direction for quite a while. The team is confident in his return, though they haven’t said exactly what led to his recent setback after having pitched in the World Baseball Classic. Either they don’t know the nature of the injury, or they’re not worried about it long term. Either way, the Padres will have some opportunities for players to take over and make a name for themselves in the San Diego rotation. As it stands, their rotation features Michael King and Nick Pivetta at the top, giving them a nice 1-2 punch. After that, they have Rand Vasquez, German Marquez, and Walker Buehler all fighting to make this rotation look somewhat relevant. It won’t be easy.
Jackson Holliday – 2B Baltimore Orioles
Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday said he’ll begin taking live at-bats this week following surgery on his broken hamate bone. He doesn’t know yet if Grapefruit League games are in play. But he is hopeful for a short IL stint to begin the season
— Andy Kostka (@afkostka) March 16, 2026
Holliday continues to progress, albeit at a slower pace than both Corbin Carroll and Francisco Lindor, who also had hamate bone surgery around the same time as him. That being said, he shouldn’t miss that much time, and he could be back after the minimum ten-day stay on the Injured List. Fantasy owners shouldn’t be discouraged by this and should still be looking to take advantage of the price drop. He is still slated to play for most of the season and is young enough to build upon last year’s mini-outbreak.
Jordan Westburg – INF Baltimore Orioles
Jordan Westburg is running, fielding and swinging with bottom hand. That’s the extent of his progress so far after PRP injection in right elbow. Wishes he had a timeline for increased activity but doesn’t. #orioles
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) March 16, 2026
Westburg’s progress here is seemingly at a standstill, as he can’t really do too much else as he waits for the injection to do its thing and help the healing process. In the meantime, he is forced to do whatever he can to remain in some form of game shape, but the longer this thing persists, the harder it will be for him to not only maintain this enthusiasm but also remain in some form of game shape. He is already ruled out of action for the first month, and he could miss all of May too if he doesn’t make some progress soon. He is not someone to target in drafts, unless you have spots on your Injured List.
