It’s MLB’s All-Star Week and there is always a lot of disagreement over the selections. What I have done here is compile a list of fantasy baseball All-Stars. I’m sure there will be just as much disagreement.
MLB picks its rosters with a combination of fan voting, player voting, and a commissioner making the final decisions based on the rule that every team must have a representative.

There is no group effort here. I will rely on the Fantrax fantasy score for a 5×5 roster as a starting point. Accordingly, there will be a starting nine. With the official MLB roster, starters are selected by fans. Each league has 23 spots to fill to reach a total of 20 position players and 12 pitchers per side. There will be five starters, three relievers, and four additional players for whom the position doesn’t matter. I will make my rosters the same and will make sure each team has a representative.
2026 Fantasy Baseball All-Stars
AL Starters
C – Ben Rice (NYY)
1B – Nick Kurtz (ATH)
2B – Jazz Chisholm (NYY)
3B – Junior Caminero (TB)
SS – Bobby Witt, Jr. (KC)
OF – Yordan Alvarez (HOU), Byron Buxton (MIN), Randy Arozarena (SEA)
DH- Pete Alonso (BAL)
It was a tough call between Kurtz and Vargas. I will have Miguel Vargas on the bench because he can play multiple positions. With Chisholm, it’s not even close. 13 HR and 26 SB and a nine-point gap between him and second place. Also, the 28 HRs at the break make it impossible to leave off Caminero at third.
If at the beginning of the season you had told me that Buxton and Arozarena would score more points for your fantasy baseball team than Aaron Judge or Julio Rodriguez at the All-Star break, I would have told you you were crazy. Based on total fantasy production, they deserve this spot.
Bench
BU1 – C – Dillon Dingler (DET) – Second best fantasy catcher behind Rice
BU2 – 1B – Willson Contreras (BOS) – 20 HRs, .285 AVG, .921 OPS
BU3 – 2B, 3B, SS, OF – Jose Caballero (NYY) – Between him and Brooks Lee or Cody Clemens. If I am drafting for a fantasy baseball team and it’s this close, I take the one with the 20 stolen bases.
BU4 – 1B/3B – Miguel Vargas (CHW) – Second-best first baseman and best third baseman.
BU5 – SS – Zach Neto (LAA) -19 HRs, 12 SBs – Second-best fantasy SS behind Witt this year.
BU6 – OF – Julio Rodriguez (SEA) – Best fantasy score after the starters.
BU7 – OF – Cody Bellinger (NYY) – Fourth best fantasy OF with 11 HR and 10 steals
BU8 – OF – Mike Trout (LAA) – Almost identical fantasy production with Cody Bellinger.
BU9 – 1B/3B – Kazuma Okamoto (TOR) – Sixth in HRs, sixth in RBIs, 13th in fantasy ranking.
BU10 – SS – Gunnar Henderson (BAL) – Not the best start for him, but he does have 17 HR, seven SB, and ranks 16th for AL fantasy hitters.
BU11 -1B- Yandy Diaz (TB) – Any one of four players could have been chosen here. Diaz was selected because of his .320 BA, 50 runs, and 55 RBIs.
AL Pitchers
SP1 – Starter – Cam Schlittler (NYY) – 2.05 ERA, .944 WHIP, 137 SO – Top fantasy pitcher this year.
SP2 – Sonny Gray (BOS)- 11 wins, fourth-most quality starts in the majors this year.
SP3 – Parker Messick (CLE) – Just behind Gray in the fantasy rankings.
SP4 – Gavin Williams (CLE) – 134 Ks and 10 wins.
SP5- Dylan Cease (TOR) – 148 strikeouts in only 98.1 innings.
RP1 – Louis Varland (TOR) – Top fantasy RP with 67 Ks, 1.10 ERA, 19 saves.
RP2 – Cade Smith (CLE) – Close second in fantasy points. He has 28 saves.
RP3 – Bryan Baker (TB) – Just behind Smith with 25 saves.
P – Joe Ryan (MIN)- Fourth most strikeouts with a 2.85 ERA.
P – Logan Gilbert (SEA) – Seventh best fantasy pitcher, 3.32 ERA, .991 WHIP, 119 Ks
P –Drew Rasmussen (TB) – Even lower ERA and WHIP than Gilbert.
P – Jake Latz (TEX) – Didn’t get a save until late April. Now tied in saves with Bednar, but has an even lower ERA and WHIP.
NL Starters
C- Hunter Goodman (COL)
1B – Matt Olson (ATL)
2B – Brice Turang (MIL)
3B – Sal Stewart (CIN)
SS – CJ Abrams (WAS)
OF – James Wood (WAS), Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHI), Jordan Walker (STL)
DH- Shohei Ohtani (LAD)
Sal Stewart this year is the best fantasy first baseman and the best third baseman. Ohtani had the same fantasy score as Andy Pages and Kyle Schwarber. The quirk in the rules is that if he is the DH, he can switch to RP later in the game. James Wood is the only hitter to have a 100 Fantrax fantasy score.
Bench
BU1 – C – Liam Hicks (MIA) – Ranks as the second-best fantasy catcher in the NL.
BU2 – 1B – Bryce Harper (PHI) – His usual great fantasy numbers.
BU3 – 2B/SS – Otto Lopez (MIA) – .339 BA and leads the league in hits.
BU4 – 1B, 2B, 3B, OF – Casey Schmitt (SF) – Seventh-best first baseman, fifth-best second. baseman, second-best third baseman, ninth-best NL outfielder all in one player.
BU5 – SS – Elly De La Cruz (CIN) – Not holding the top spot but still, 15 HR, 14 SB, .272 BA.
BU6 – OF – Andy Pages (LAD)- Fantrax fourth-best overall fantasy outfielder.
BU7 – OF – Bryan Reynolds (PIT) – Fantrax fifth-best over all fantasy outfielder.
BU8 – OF – Brandon Marsh (PHI) – .302 BA, ADP was 369 and now he is the tenth best fantasy outfielder.
BU9 – OF – Carson Benge (NYM) – The rookie has 11 HR, 15 SB, and .731 OPS.
BU10 -1B, OF – Alec Burleson (STL) – 49 Runs, 66 RBIs (4th), .272 BA.
BU11 -DH – Kyle Schwarber (PHI)- Leads the league with 32 home runs.
NL Pitchers
SP1 – Starter – Jacob Misiorowski (MIL)- Only fantasy starter with a 100 score.
SP2 – Chase Burns (CIN) – 11 wins already, .254 ERA, 118 Ks over 102 innings.
SP3 – Cristopher Sanchez (PHI) – 14 quality starts, 144 Ks, could be the starter in Philly.
SP4 – Zack Wheeler (PHI) – Second-best fantasy starter, 9 wins, 2.28 ERA, 98 Ks.
SP5- Chris Sale (ATL) – Sixth-best fantasy pitcher, seventh-most Ks.
RP1 – Mason Miller (SD)- 38 innings, 71 Ks, 24 saves. No one is even close.
RP2 – Jhoan Duran (PHI)- Second-best fantasy reliever with 24 saves, 50 Ks in 32.2 innings.
RP3 – Riley O’Brien (STL) – Ranking third in Fantrax with 24 saves.
P – Paul Skenes (PIT) – Fourth most Ks, nine quality starts.
P – Eduardo Rodriguez (ARI) – Tied for fourth in quality starts with 12, fourth in ERA with 2.29.
P- Foster Griffin (WAS) – Sixth-highest fantasy score. 10 quality starts, 2.77 ERA, 109 Ks.
P – Tanner Scott (LAD) – 13 saves, six holds, an ERA of 2.56 and a .776 WHIP
Final Take
A lot of players made both the All-Star team and this Fantrax Fantasy All Star team. Several were different.
What this shows is that some of the biggest names and fan favorites don’t necessarily make great fantasy players. It also shows what happens when fan voting is taken out of the criteria, and therefore selections are made more on production.
