Alright, enough is enough. It’s time for a prospect ranking update. The MLB draft is in the rearview mirror, the next international crop is getting ready to sign, and Vladimir Guerrero is no longer considered a prospect. That last part is a little sad, isn’t it? Did it bring a tear to your eye? Or maybe some fond memories of Guerrero terrorizing minor league pitching? Vladdy was our golden boy, our prospect heavyweight champion of the world. Arguably the most hyped up prospect of all-time and the no doubt #1 guy on every top prospects list out there. If my children had made top prospects rankings, they would’ve instinctively known to slot Guerrero at #1. But now he’s gone, vacating the top spot for the next phenom to hop into.
Who’s it going to be? If you put your thinking cap on, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to guess who the new top dog is. The top spot isn’t the only big change we have in store below. I mean, our last rankings update was early-February, eons ago in the prospect world. You’re going to see some fresh faces high on this list and maybe a few names you weren’t expecting. Is Whitley still the #1 overall pitcher? Where did I slot my boy Nolan Gorman? Why can Dave Dombrowki never build any sort of a functioning bullpen? Two of those three questions will be answered below.

josiah gray? easily top 100
Great list Eric, question what are the rules for making the list? For example, when you do your 2020 list, are players not eligible for the list if they serve any time in MLB, or certain plate appearances/IP?
Thanks
Where do you rank Luis Gil?
Great list! You do a fantastic job imop. You have Kristian Robinson and George Valera very high. What is your take on both? You, also, have Vientos higher than most? Lastly, what have you seen about J Pablo Martinez to not have dropped him more?
Great list Eric. Thought Jose Siri would be ranked higher. I love the power/speed guys. Hopefully Siri will be better at AAA in the 2nd half..
Any thoughts on Josh Rojas or Alejandro Kirk?
You got a blurb on Jhon Torres if you have heard anything?
Love the rankings and the work! No Alzolay on this list? not a fan?
Cronenworth and Rojas? Products of the new ball or potential Brandon Lowe/Jeff McNeil impact?
Good list, biggest thing that really surprises me is Jake Fraley ahead of Alec Bohm… Bohm is a more highly regarded prospect than Fraley, and additionally (for fantasy purposes), Bohm is a bat first corner IF guy, while Fraley is a CFer.
too low for me: Josh Naylor, Logan Allen, Ronaldo Hernandez, Keibert Ruiz, and Dustin May…
A few guys I’d have added: Luis Arraez, Andrew Knizner, Aramis Ademan, Cole Tucker, Connor Scott, Jeisson Rosario, Wil Crowe, Jhoan Duran, Keegan Akin, Cionel Perez
Sleepers: Tahnaj Thomas, Roansy Contreras
Pretty good list though, those were just the biggest things I noticed.
I am really surprised with his avg and OBP (depending the league) that as a catcher Knizner is not on there. I also love Brenton Doyle for fantasy OF.
Dustin May at 120? He just got promoted to AAA. He should at least be top 75 or so. Why so low on him?
Two quick questions. First with Rutschman being a C do you think that Vaughn’s bat is that much better or does the position scarcity at C maybe equalize it a bit (fantasy). Second, what are your longer vies of Jasson Dominguez?
Biggio at #74 isn’t on CHC.
Any significant changes from the start of the year?
Love the rankings. Are you planning an update before the season begins?
Great list, thanks for the effort put into it. Where do you have Pavin Smith and Miguel Amaya?
Great list, which has helped me prepare for my FYPD. Where would you put guys like Bo Naylor, Luis Oviedo, Blaze Alexander, and Daniel Lynch? Thanks.
Dustin May: One of the only lists I haven’t seen him in the top 100, let alone 189…yikes
You have Nolan Gorman at #16 and Jonathan India at #18. Everything I read has them close together with the order switching a based on who is writing the list. the thing that I then the question is what do you see that is so different from Alec Bohm than Gorman and India?
Thanks for your time. Im a bit surprised by M Keller ranking being lower then I would expect. He out performed his numbers in AAA when you take a deeper look. I think it was 8 out of 11 starts he gave up 2 or less Earned runs. His first 2 were bad but then he looked like his old self. I do note that he used his fastball quite a bit. He needs to work on his changeup but his curve should be a plus pitch. Maybe , your right. I was a bit higher on him.
Thanks,
Wayne
Awesome list thanks for putting it up. I have 3 of the top 150 on my team now !!
Awesome list! Thanks for the hard work. I love the aggressive ranking of K. Robinson (#32) and C. Pache (#43). This is the highest I’ve seen A. Beck (#125) this year- hoping he breaks out in ’19. Personally hoping Duplantier and Singer are under rated here. How close were J. Groome and Spencer Howard to making this list?
