Previously on Fantrax Does Football Manager…
Football may have stopped in the real world, but not here at Fantrax; we’re staying to giving you your football fix with a little bit of help from Football Manager 20. On Monday, our first series kicked off with a look at @TT_CAM’s league and the opening five games of the season (check it out here if you missed it). On Tuesday, we took a look at Gameweeks 6-10; Wednesday we saw what happened in Gameweeks 11-15, and yesterday we witnessed the action from Gameweeks 16-20. Today the curtain comes down on the first-ever Fantrax Football Manager Championship…it’s been emotional…
Gameweek 21
They came, they saw, they Konquered. Ladies and gentlemen, the winners of the first ever Fantrax Football Manager Championship: UU Konnekshun! It looked like Jesus was going to take us to the final gameweek, but Bobby Firms had better ideas and ensured the only thing left to play for was pride and the wooden spoon. A cracking game was played out between Best of the Rest and Campos; Chris Wood’s 92nd-minute goal may have been outdone by the 95th minute Kean winner, but it at least kept the Kiwi in the golden boot race. Buy Nuts secured the runners-up spot despite playing the second half with 10-men after Lucas Moura was sent off, whilst red cards were also shown to Doing A Fulham’s Aurier and Scamma’s Matic. Finally, Only Horn climbed to 6th as they came from a goal down to beat Wingback 3-1.
Gameweek 22
Marcelo Bielsa got the boot from Six Fois with just a game to go, which seemed pointless, but especially so after another defeat was inflicted, this time by Only Horn. Ryan Fraser and Burnsy did the league a favor and ensured Best of the Rest finished bottom of the table, whilst an Aubameyang hat-trick was a nice way to finish the season for Resume Filler (and not so nice for their opponents Buy Nuts). Scamma jumped up to 8th spot with a first-half onslaught against Doing A Fulham, whilst the game of the day was at Problem Park as Wingback fought back twice to share the points away at That Ain’t No Problem. And finally, your league champions Konnekshun had clearly spent too long celebrating after sealing the title, as they could only draw at home to Campos.
The Final Table
And this is how it all finished. 22 games played and in the end, a comfortable champion. Konnekshun’s run of form in the second half of the season was reminiscent of the 2019 Manchester City team and they finish on 41 points; 5 clear of Buy Nuts and 6 clear of Burnsy. Best of the Rest technically receive the wooden spoon, though let’s be honest, the ridicule will still fall on Doing A Fulham, who did indeed live up to their name. Goal difference separated a whole host of teams, though Only Horn, Resume Filler, and Scamma should remember that this is definitely sufficient for bragging rights.
So that’s your lot. Fantrax and FM20 have simulated the season and determined the outcome, which is just as well because at this rate it may never happen in real life! Take care everyone, and make sure you act like Doing A Fulham’s defence and stand 2 metres away from everyone at all times.
