MLB Injury Report
Hunter Greene – SP Cincinnati Reds
From Terry Francona: Hunter Greene is going to workout in Cincy today, plan is for him to pitch Wednesday vs. Phillies.
Moves around that still tba.
— Pat Brennan (@PBrennanENQ) August 10, 2025
Greene had a very successful outing this past weekend, hurling 5.1 innings of work and striking out seven batters. While he did surrender five runs, he still seems ready to return, and it looks like he will make his return this week. Rejoice for anyone who has him rostered.
Roki Sasaki – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
#Dodgers Dave Roberts says Roki Sasaki will start a rehab assignment with OKC on Thursday Target will be 3 IP
— Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr) August 9, 2025
Great news here for Sasaki and the Dodgers, who will likely welcome him back mid-September, just in time for some final prep for the playoffs. That being said, three innings here would be a big load to start with, which could mean he’s in for a “less than 30-days” rehab assignment. Either way, this first start this week will be one to monitor.
Marcelo Mayer – SS Boston Red Sox
Injured Boston Red Sox rookie Marcelo Mayer still has not begun baseball activitieshttps://t.co/veViTy0ySs
— Christopher Smith (@SmittyOnMLB) August 10, 2025
It is worrisome that he has not been able to clear the hurdle of resuming baseball activities. There is a chance that this is a season-ending injury and that the Red Sox will be without his services until next year. He is not to be forgotten in dynasty, but in redraft, fantasy players would be wise to move on.
Texas Rangers – Team Update
Rangers injury updates on this Sunday morning:
• Evan Carter (back) will take live BP tomorrow
• Chris Martin (calf) will throw live BP Tuesday
• Tyler Mahle (shoulder) threw from 120+ today and could potentially go off the mound next week
— Shawn McFarland (@McFarland_Shawn) August 10, 2025
Evan Carter taking live batting practice today could signal that the much-anticipated rehab assignment could be right around the corner. As for Chris Martin, he continues to fight an uphill battle, having done so all season. Finally, Tyler Mahle’s return to the Rangers could happen at some point in September, but throwing off a mound next week could kickstart that plan into effect.
Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update
Brewers injury updates:
• Jacob Misiorowski threw three innings to hitters today, around 60 pitches. Next step TBD, eligible to come off the IL on Aug. 15.
• Logan Henderson’s MRI revealed a flexor strain.
• Jackson Chourio and Rhys Hoskins progressing with rehab.— Sophia Minnaert (@SophiaMinnaert) August 9, 2025
Big update here with some fantasy-relevant names. First, it appears that Jacob Misiorowski will be ready to be activated once eligible this week. Whether or not the Brewers want to take that plunge remains to be seen, as the team may opt to take things slowly here, given his value to their franchise in the future. Either way, it goes without saying that he is progressing quite well. As for Logan Henderson, given that he has a flexor strain, we may not see him pitch again this season. He has pitched an even 102.0 innings this year in both the majors and minors, and it’s unclear how cautious the team will be with his innings cap and pushing him back. As for Jackson Chourio and Rhys Hoskins, neither is expected back anytime soon, but it’s the former who should be back before the latter.
Brendan Donovan – 2B St. Louis Cardinals
Cardinals say Brendan Donovan is scratched with left groin tightness. New lineup forthcoming.
— Jeff Jones (@jmjones) August 9, 2025
Donovan has had minor ailments all season, but has been able to rebound nicely with small doses of rest here and there. Hopefully, this is another case of that.
Matt Vierling – OF Detroit Tigers
A.J. Hinch found out after last night's game that Matt Vierling was going for testing on his left oblique. Vierling is now on the 10-day IL
"We have not eliminated the chance for him to come back," Hinch said. "The severity of it is mild, but he clearly needs to go on the IL."
— Cody Stavenhagen (@CodyStavenhagen) August 10, 2025
Vierling has had a tough time staying healthy in 2025, and oblique injuries, even when mild, can be difficult to overcome.
Byron Buxton – OF Minnesota Twins
Sounds like there's a good chance the #MNTwins will activate Byron Buxton (ribs) during the upcoming Yankees series in New York, perhaps as soon as Monday.
— Aaron Gleeman (@AaronGleeman) August 10, 2025
Fantastic news for fantasy players everywhere, as they should be able to activate Buxton for this week, though they may not get a full week’s schedule of games. Hopefully he can pick things up where he left off.
Bryce Miller – SP Seattle Mariners
Bryce Miller will make his third rehab start with Tacoma on Wednesday in Las Vegas. He is expected to throw 80-85 pitches.
— Ryan Divish (@RyanDivish) August 10, 2025
Miller has looked good thus far in his previous rehab outings, but the real test will be to see if he can endure enough to go 80+ pitches and still be efficient. If he is successful here, chances are his next appearance will be for the Mariners.
Cristian Javier – SP Houston Astros
Cristian Javier will start tomorrow’s series opener against the Red Sox, Joe Espada said. Spencer Arrighetti and Hunter Brown will follow him in the series.
— Matt Kawahara (@matthewkawahara) August 10, 2025
Be prepared!
Ronald Acuna Jr. – OF Atlanta Braves
https://twitter.com/DOBrienATL/status/1954568558144262597
Acuna will also be traveling with the Braves, so there’s a chance that he will be activated at any time. All of these reports suggest that he’s as close to being ready as ever, so time will tell. It’s hard to know if he’ll play this week, but it’s worth taking a chance on it when deciding to set your lineups today.
