Forwards Draft Rankings

In order to create these rankings, we have firstly downloaded the Fantrax HQ Tiered Rankings Cheat Sheet as a guideline for where each player should be roughly ranked.  We have then customized this Cheat Sheet to our own preferences, and created our specific rankings from there.  We recommend you do the same!

These Forwards Draft Rankings will be constantly updated as we gain more information from friendlies.  New signings will also be added as and when they occur.

Tier 1 – The Fantasy EPL Elite

Tier 1 of our Forwards Draft Rankings should be obvious.  Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Raheem Sterling are a level above the rest of the forwards.  Last season Salah and Mane were the top two scoring forwards, with Sterling the 7th overall.  However, the Englishman did have a better points-per-game average than the players ranked directly above him.  These three players will be in contention for a spot in the Top 5 overall scorers come the end of the season, and we would recommend picking up one of these players if you’re drafting from position 1 through to 5.  Personally we’ve got Salah top of the pile for our forwards, but it could easily have been Mane.

Tier 2 – Points/Goal Scoring Machines

Tier 2 is where things get tricky.  This group of players was really hard to rank.  We’ve got Heung-Min Son ranked in 4th place in our Forwards Draft Rankings.  We’re big fans of the Tottenham forward, and he racks up ghost points, as well as gaining attacking returns.  Premier League new-boy Timo Werner is ranked 5th overall.  Be wary here though.  Obviously he’s an incredibly talented footballer, but sometimes it does take players a little while to adjust to life in England.  Adama Traore is ranked in 6th, with Marcus Rashford in 7th.  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang comes in at 8th, with Wolves forward Raul Jimenez taking a tumble due to the departure of Matt Doherty.  Riyad Mahrez is ranked 10th, closely followed by Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy.  Kane and Vardy are extremely good players but are a little too goal dependent for us.

Tier 3 – Great Assets

We’re starting off Tier 3 with Anthony Martial and new Arsenal forward WillianDanny Ings is ranked 15h in our Forwards Draft Rankings after a highly impressive season last time around.  Manchester City pair Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are up next.  Where to draft the Manchester City pair is an impossible one to predict.  Both will score incredibly well when they play, but how often will they play?  No one knows the answer to that question… We don’t think Pep even knows the answer to that question.  Their ranks of 16th and 17th reflect that they have huge points scoring potential, but will suffer from rotation.  Roberto Firmino is 18th overall after a disappointing end to last campaign.  Richarlison and Nicolas Pepe round out Tier 3.

Tier 4 – Points Potential

Our next Tier features players that offer some really strong potential for points through ghost points or explosive returns.  Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic is ranked 21st in our Forwards Draft Rankings, as he’ll be looking to prove himself at this level once again.  Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Oliver McBurnie, and Sebastien Haller are ranked next – these three are the kings of winning aerials!  They offer really decent returns from these ghost points, and we would look to be drafting them between rounds 6 and 8.  Mason Greenwood is 25th overall, and Diogo Jota and Steven Bergwijn complete Tier 4.

Tier 5 – The 4th Forwards

Tier 5 are the forwards that we would look to be adding to our Fantrax roster as a 4th forward to call upon when needed.  Chris Wood is the ideal player for this category, and he tops Tier 5 with an overall ranking of 28.  Next up is a player that could be in for a breakout season, Che Adams.  The Southampton man was on really good form after the Premier League restart, and could now establish himself with his confidence high!  New Leeds striker Rodrigo Moreno comes in at 30th.  Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke and Jay Rodriguez are ranked 31st, 32nd, and 33rd, with Joelinton in 34th.  Alexandre Lacazette is a lowly 36th, as we think he’s either going to leave Arsenal, or will be forced to watch from the bench for most of the campaign!  Chelsea forwards Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud are ranked next; we’re currently unsure of their prospects after the arrival of Werner.

Tier 6 – The Streamables

Tier 6 is the streamables section of our Forwards Draft Rankings.  These players will likely to added and dropped from rosters throughout the season!  Eddie Nketiah is ranked 41st overall, and he has a chance of moving up these rankings if teammate Lacazette leaves Arsenal.  Manchester City’s new signing Ferran Torres is ranked 45th, and Wolves’ Pedro Neto comes in at 46th.  Callum Hudson-Odoi may be worth a punt in your draft if you want to gamble on him earning a loan move away from Stamford Bridge.
